This is a wheel thrown porcelain jar. It has been decorated by hand using blue underglaze in a pattern inspired by textiles and embroidery art. This pattern is called ‘knit’ and is inspired by the ‘stocking stitch’ frequently used in knitting . It has been finished with a clear glaze.

I draw the pattern entirely by eye, a technique which ensures that no two pieces are ever the same.
