This is a wheel-thrown porcelain mug. It has been decorated by hand with blue underglaze in an undulating net pattern. It has been finished with a clear glaze.

The decoration is drawn entirely by eye, using only a roughly drawn pencil line as a guide which burns out in the glaze. As a result each piece is unique.

There is something really special about a handmade mug. There is perfection in the imperfections that you can’t really explain! These, being porcelain, are also very slightly translucent, so when the sun shines on them, they glow gently.
